SZA — CTRL tour preview

Sacramento is in for a real treat. Formally know as SZA, birth name Solana Imani Rowe, will be performing at the Ace of Spades this September. SZA is an American singer and songwriter who plays with elements of soul, hip-hop, minimalist R&B, Cloud rap, witch house, and ~chillwave~. The tones of her music revolves around themes of sexuality, nostalgia, and abandonment. Sounds like the language of deep and intense Scorpio (November 8th). SZA is someone who brings warm tides and body rolls at the same time. She is someone who brings her own type of spice to the music world– she is certainly a folk who has made immense changes in the music industry. SZA is the first woman to be signed/a singer with Top Dawg Entertainment. Some musical influences she has includes Billie Holiday, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bjork, and/or Wu-tang Clan. These are are music on a large spectrum and goes to show SZA’s progressive, unique elements that is brought to the music world. <3 Image from Hypebeast.com Image from Hypebeast.com

It’s also incredibly exciting to know that SZA released her new R&B album Ctrl, that is like floating into a dream. Filled with her silvery voice, electronic production and an unabashed openness about her stage in life — she’s 26-year-old woman trying to balance relationships and honesty with herself — SZA’s songs feature collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and Isaiah Rashad. (There’s also the inclusion of phone calls with her mom and grandmother, used as interludes throughout the album.) SZA will be touring starting next month, she’s gonna be reaching souls and gaining experiences to give her a bigger glo-up than before. Cheers to growth and intimate communities.

Doors will open 7 PM, September 10th — you don’t want to miss it!
