Morgan James at B Street Theatre

It was a beautiful night at the B Street Theatre! Morgan James and her band took the stage and performed a magical show. Let’s recap the night.

The B street theatre is a small venue, but the any seat is a good view. There was a Giant Purple background on stage and the lighting was perfect.

James and her band came on stage and started jamming. She started off with “Reckless Abandon” and the fans were already cheering. A few songs later, she sang Joni Mitchell songs, but in her own way. After, she sang her original music “Better Me” and “Saved.”

In the middle of the show, the drummer played the drums with his hands and wanted to get the crowd more involved. Everyone clapped their hands together to follow his beat.

After the drummer finished his solo performance, lead guitarist Doug Wamble jammed out before starting the next song. It was fun to watch the other musicians get some shine.

James asked the crowd if they attended her first Sacramento show at Harlow’s. Many fans in the audience responded with cheers. She talked about her inspirations including her parents that introduced her to Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, and Nina Simone. James mentioned her latest cover album, the Beatles “White Album” which includes all 30 songs!

James played hits from the White album like “Dear Prudence” and “Mother Nature’s Son.” She sang beautifully and it was awesome to hear her unique vocals. She has that soulful voice with a wide vocal range. Towards the end of the show, James and her band were very humbled and thanked the audience for being there.

After everyone left the stage, James and Wamble came out for an encore and ended the night with “Blackbird” by Aretha Franklin.
