Blu – The Mash Up Interview (Video)
While Blu stopped in Sacramento to perform, The Mash Up caught up with him to talk about the return of Blu and Exile, track he did with Lupe Fiasco, his new album No York, and so much more that you’d have to watch the interview.

I wrote this blog post awhile ago for http://www.hiphophopedealers.com. I think it’s appropriate to re-post here. A huge reason I wanted to be down with The Mash Up was because they obviously like Blu too. The post didn’t gain much traction on my site. Let’s see if we can get something done here….
Ladies and Gentlemen, I’ve got a proposition for you. Proposition might be too formal…I need your help. I want you to help me achieve something. Once this particular goal is achieved, I think it will create opportunities that are currently just a dream.
Here’s the deal. I want to meet Blu. Not just meet him, but chop it up with him, maybe put one in the air, establish a friendship. You see, I’m a fan of his. Not only do I appreciate and love his music, but I think that his words and thoughts lend themselves to exactly the types of things I hope to accomplish with this website. Based on his lyrics, he’s seems to be a dude who’s friendship worthy.
No, seriously. Dude has something within him that suggests that he sees the greater good and plans to leave things better than he found them. It just so happens that I fancy myself that type of person too.
The opportunity to express my admiration and support for Blu would be a valuable experience…so, here’s what I need for you folks to do. Tell me how I can make this happen. Should I go on a Blu post binge? Should I make him the Lyrical Lesson feature until he notices what we’re doing? Should I ask that you guys post any and everything positive you have to say about Blu here on our site? What do I do in order to get his attention?
If we’re successful with this little task, then we’ll move on to some other wonderfully talented artists with whom I would love to converse…J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Mos Def, Redman, Kweli, Cudi, Fashawn, Jay-Z, Common, Andre 3000, Bun B, Devin The Dude…just to get started. People who, as far as I know, take some responsibility for themselves and Hip Hop in general. People who, if unified for a cause that was not primarily centered around profit or self promotion, could influence a legion of people worldwide to come together for the causes that Hip Hop should represent.
How’s that for a life to lead. Travel around the world, befriend all of my favorite Hip Hop artists, people within the culture and promote what I know to be the redeeming qualities of Hip Hop culture and the peoples who represent it…pretty dope, right? I happen to think so.
I realize that the possibility that this can actually happen are slim. However, it is not impossible. I am not asking to interview these people. I do not seek any financial assistance for reward from them. A blunt, brew and the chance to talk about Hip Hop and life will do.
Peace. Power.
