While Blu stopped in Sacramento to perform, The Mash Up caught up with him to talk about the return of Blu and Exile, track he did with Lupe Fiasco, his new album No York, and so much more that you’d have to watch the interview.

Fly High’s JoEl has been under the radar for at least a year as far as releasing material, but now he’s cooking up something for the fall. “Girl On The Dance Floor” is his “comeback” record from the upcoming Average Jo 2 project and honestly, I wasn’t feeling the track for the first 28 seconds. Fortunately, when JoEl started singing, I started to understand it. From then on, I got more and more into the song and ended up enjoying it. Average Jo 2 just might be that sleeper hit.

Trek Life’s new con­cep­tual, chorus-less sin­gle, “Due West,” “may be,” accord­ing to Trek, “the most impor­tant song on the album (Everything Changed Nothing.) I’ve always wanted to get into the History of Cali more and more since it seems like, from a rap per­spec­tive, Cali (LA specif­i­cally) only really goes as deep as the early 80′s.” Trek con­tin­ues, say­ing “I talked to my fam­ily and the par­ents of my friends to hear the sto­ries of their migra­tion to LA and other areas and to get a good per­spec­tive on the black migra­tion to Cali. You’ll find that most of us are first gen­er­a­tion LA folks and of that we all really started in Central California and migrated North and South to the major cities.”
