How Social Media Is Changing the
Tune of Sacramento’s Music Scene

Social media has changed the way people create, discover, listen to and share music. Sites like Pandora, Last.fm, YouTube, iLike, and YourSpins put its users at the helm allowing them to rate, interact, distribute, and even remix music.

Hosted by Sacramento Social Media Club (SMCSac), “Social Media Rocks” is a free event geared towards helping local bands and musicians leverage social media tools from production to promotion.

Panel Discussion Topics will include:

• MySpace vs. Facebook: Selecting the best online tools for your social media strategy
• Virtual street teams: Social media tools for music event promotion
• Vimeo killed the radio star: Importance of online music videos

Simplicity battles complexity in TAIS‘ most recent release in which he emphasizes the concept of “simple”, but don’t expect to find half-witted lyricism from this Sacramento artist. There’s no need to be intimidated by his approach because he is human just like the rest of us. As you make your way through the mixtape, a relatable element is present in his music, meaning it won’t be too hard to feel his music. The truth can be found if one is willing to search and luckily for you, you won’t have to look too far.

‘So many people are doing free downloads nowadays, and I feel like it takes away from what free music is supposed to be,’ TAIS says. ‘It used to be a big thing if artist gave away music, but now it just seems like so many people are doing it that listeners are on free music overload.’

‘I want this download to be an experience that allows people to not only get free music, but also feel compensated for taking the time to listen to my music,’… ‘I know how valuable peoples time is nowadays, and I wanted to be mindful of that concept.’
